Sookie : Jason !
Il s'agenouille devant elle et la serre dans ses bras.
Jason : Oh ! I've never been happier to see you in my life !
Sookie : That's nice, but, sweetie, I'm-I'm... black and blue all over and you're squeezing me.
Jason : (la relâchant) Oh, sorry. (il inspecte ses blessures) Shit ! Look what that son of a bitch did to you ! I can't believe I gave him my truck ! If he was still alive right now, I'd... fuckin' kill him again !
Arlene : (attristée) 'Scuse me.
Jason : (gêné) Me and my mouth.
Sookie : She'll be all right. Eventually.
Jason : You know, I was sitting in that jail, and I just kept thinkin' about all the stupid stuff I'd done.
Sookie : That must've kept you busy.
Jason : And I know it seems like all I ever think about's myself. And drinking. And chasing women. But that's only 'cause I thought that's all I was good at.
Sookie : That's not true. You were... good at football.
Jason : Not good enough for a scholarship. I ain't never been good enough for anything. Or anybody. Well, except maybe Amy. But she's gone, so... So I was in there, waitin' to die too, and I realized my life wasn't worth nothing. I'd never done nothing worth being proud of. And all I could think to do was to end it.
Sookie : Jason...
Jason : No, it's okay. 'Cause then, something happened. I was saved. I was given a second chance. And now I know that all this... this bad stuff that happened, it happened for a reason.
Sookie : What's that?
Jason : (cherchant) ...I ain't sure yet. But I do know that I'm meant to do something important with my life. And soon as I find out what that is, I ain't gonna fuck it up.
Sookie : (souriant) That's good. I guess.
Jason : Yeah. (il lui prend le visage dans les mains et lui embrasse le front) _I love you, Sook. And... I'm gonna take good care of you from now on. I promise.
Sookie : How about you just take care of yourself and... stay out of trouble?
Jason : Come on, you don't have to worry about me no more ! (il se lève et commence à partir mais il se heurte contre la table basse) I'm good !
Cela fait rire Sookie.
Sookie : I can't sleep.
Jason : Join the club.
Ils se font tous les deux face assis sur le lit.
Jason : Well, they made me think I was worth something.
Sookie : You were a star in Bon Temps. I was the throwaway. Everybody always thought you hung the moon.
Jason : No, that ain't true. Well, they like my athletics and my good looks, my sex abilities, but they don't like me for me. And Steve and Sarah, well, they acted like they did, before they tried to kill me. They stopped my mind from going around and around thinking about-- Well, other stuff.
Sookie : What other stuff? (il secoue la tête, sans rien dire) _But Soldiers of the Sun? My Lord ! Didn't you for one second think what Gran would say? Guns and suicide bombers--
Jason : (triste) _Don't-- Don't talk about Gran. (il lui tourne le dos)_ I won't talk about her. I can't.
Sookie : Why?
Jason : Because I don't-- Because I don't wanna feel anything.
Sookie : (les larmes aux yeux)_ But we have to talk about her. We can't stop remembering her or loving her because it hurts too much. She'd never stop loving us, would she?
Jason : No.
Sookie : We'll keep her alive in our hearts and our prayers and that's the way it's gotta be.
Jason : And Mama and Daddy.
Sookie : (lui prenant la main)_ That's right. Mama and Daddy. And Gran.
Jason : Our whole family's gone, Sook. Everybody who counts. We're all alone. We're all that's left.
Sookie : So you know what we gotta do? We gotta grow up, we gotta stick together and we gotta be good to each other or we're letting them down.
Jason : Yeah... (il lui refait face)_ Hey, Soo-Sook... I'm sorry about, uh... everything I ever done to you. I'm a dumbass fuck-up.
Sookie : Yeah, but you wouldn't be if you used your brain instead of just letting it take up space in your skull. That's not dumb, that's lazy.
Jason : You think so? Well, I-I could try, I guess.
Sookie : I'm sorry too. I always love you, Jason, even when I wanna stick your head in a bucket and kick it around the yard.
Jason : And I love you, even though I wish you'd cook for me more. And you were normal, with a normal boyfriend.
Sookie : I didn't have any say about being normal. We were born the way we are.
Tara : Just don't make no sense. How can Sookie not have a blood type? (se tournant vers son frère)_ You got one?
Jason : AB-negative. I only know it because I'm always cutting myself with power tools and whatnot. But Sook, she ain't never really been sick before. Definitely never stayed in a hospital. Wasn't even born in one.
Tara : I didn't know that.
Jason : Yeah, our mama was always waiting till the last minute to do everything. And Sook, she was coming out real fast, so there wasn't any time. (souriant légèrement)_ Our daddy had to deliver her on the dining-room table. Saw more of it than I cared to. (redevenant triste)_ You think it's all this vampire blood she's had that did this to her?
Tara : (les larmes aux yeux)_ It ain't the blood she drank that did this. It's the piece of shit vampire she drank it from.
Jason : You really kicked him out in the sun?
Tara : Mm-hm. And he's nothing but fucking ash now, and good riddance !
Jason se penche au-dessus du lit de Sookie.
Jason : Hey, Sook. (pleurant)_ Don't you do this to me. (il enferme une de ses mains dans les siennes)_ I wasn't playing before when I said you're all I got. I fucking need you. So come on back.
Jason : Shove over ! (il s'assoit à côté d'elle)_ I'm not lettin' you spend the night alone. So you want with marshmallows or without?
Il s'apprêtait à lui donner la tasse sans les marshmallows, mais elle préfère avec.
Sookie : With. (il a l'air très déçu)_ Look, I know you must have been worried for me, but you can't shadow me forever.
Jason : (baissant la tête)_ No, it ain't that, Sook. Just... I don't know-- having you back... (un grand sourire aux lèvres)_ It's like the happiest I've been in my entire life. (la regardant)_ And I don't want it to end.
Sookie : I love you, too. (ça le fait sourire)_ I'm still mad you sold the house.
Jason : (jetant sa tête en arrière)_ Ugh ! You are not gonna let me live that down, are you? (elle secoue la tête)
Sookie : Tomorrow, I'm gonna call Sid Matt and see if we can't give those AIK people their money back. I'm keepin' the flat screen, though.
Jason : (souriant)_ Yeah. It's nice.
